I have always felt like an observer at the edges of a room that felt too loud, too staged, too perfect.

A young woman with glasses, sitting cross-legged, making a funny face with her lips puckered and scrunched eyes, against a plain white background.

Growing up in Germany meant growing up with its history. The good, the bad, the worst. It taught me the importance of responsibility, acceptance and tolerance. That everyone deserves to feel seen and valued.

When I moved to the U.S., I felt the difference. Everything felt polished, curated, like a glossy surface that didn’t quite let you in. But my life was nothing like the pretty pictures I posted and showed the world. It was raw, real, and ugly. A life in the margins we often hide.

Art became my way to capture the truth beneath the gloss, the stories that don’t make the highlight reels. The stories that truly shape us. Every detail and brushstroke carries a piece of my story - my longing to belong, my discomfort with perfection, my desire for something authentic. My art wouldn’t exist without me, and it wouldn’t be complete without you.

Through JaCu studio I thrive to create a space where you won’t feel invisible, hidden, or not enough. I want my work to be an invitation. An opening to share the hidden, the messy, the parts we are told to keep quiet. To uncover the beauty in the margins and create a sense of belonging that says: life isn’t all shiny, and that’s okay. Every piece - the good, the bad, the raw - is worth showing, because it’s what makes us real.

When you look at my work, I don’t want you to just see another piece of generic content.

I want you to feel something - comfort, connection, maybe even a piece of yourself.
