2026 | Ode to Joy

Created during a difficult chapter of my life, Ode to Joy is a celebration of hope, resilience, and the return of light after dark days. Vibrant, bold, and unapologetically joyful, she reflects the emotions I longed to feel and eventually found again.

The Story

I painted her during a time when I felt completely defeated. Life felt heavy, my health was taking its toll, and the uncertainty of what came next often felt suffocating. Looking back, it still amazes me that something so bright and joyful emerged from such a dark place.

At the time, I desperately wanted to reconnect with a version of myself that felt lost. The version that could laugh easily, find joy in small moments, and look forward to the future with hope.

In many ways, I painted her as everything I wasn't feeling but wanted to be again.

As she took shape, she became more than a painting. She became a reminder that joy can still exist even when life feels overwhelming. Not because everything is okay, but because hope has a way of finding its way back to us, even when we least expect it.

To me, Ode to Joy is about holding on to light during dark seasons and trusting that brighter days will eventually return.
